What is Perspective:
Perspective is a word of multiple meanings and may be related to the way a given situation or object is analyzed; a viewpoint on a specific situation; a three-dimensional mode of representation or all that can be seen in the distance.
Perspective meaning in english is the art of representing three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface so as to give the right impression of their height, width, depth, and position in relation to each other.
Another perspective definition is related to the business world and the professional market (professional perspective), when the term “perspective” is denoted expectation, hope or goals to be achieved in the future.
Example: “My prospect for a new job is optimistic” or “The prospect of a new job makes you anxious.”
It is also that which is perceived externally, that is, the appearance or aspect of something when observed with a certain degree of distance; It is the assumption of the appearance of something, observed from a certain angle or point of view.
Perspective in the arts
Within the visual arts, perspective is understood as a painting technique that can create an illusory effect on people who view a particular image from a specific angle and at a distance.
This technique is very present in Renaissance painting, it was used to represent different depth dimensions of the same space. Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa is one of the most famous examples of perspective painting. Look:
In Piero della Francesca’s “The Flagellation of Christ” the use of perspective resources is also quite clear.
Artistic perspective, on the other hand, also means the way certain characteristics of a work of art are analyzed, criticized, or appreciated by those who observe it from different points of view and opinions.
In the isometric perspective all comparison axes are equal, that is, they maintain the same proportions of the length, width and height of the represented object. Usually it is applied in architectural technical drawings.
Linear perspective is a technique used in drawing, painting and architecture, based on the concept of three-dimensionality. It is used to give a three-dimensional effect to a drawing.
In this technique the artist starts drawing from a certain imaginary point, called the vanishing point. This point is used as an imaginary horizon line, and all other lines that project the drawing are directed to this vanishing point.
Also called as life expectancy, as commonly used, is the average life span that a human being usually lives, the length of time an individual or group of people is expected to live.
The term may also be related to the goals and objectives that an individual has for their future life.
Perspective in photography
Perspective is also a feature used in photography. It can be used to highlight the dimensions of a place or object, focusing on distances according to the angle used by the photographer.
It can also be used to simulate unrealistic situations when different uses of perspective give an unrealistic result to photography, such as an optical illusion.
These results can be achieved by taking advantage of the depth of field and placement of the photographed elements in the photo composition.
